MY PURPOSE AND DESTINY

Jer. 29: 11-13 “I know the plans I have you for you, declares the Lord. ………………”

It is really exciting to know that God has mighty plans for you. 

  1. Plans to prosper.
  2. Plans to give hope.
  3. Plans to protect.
  4. Plans to give a you a future.

Now the challenge is –

  • What are these plans that God has for?
  • Can I know them?
  • Will God reveal his plans for life, and what about the desires I have got in me?
  • What if my desires and the plans of God for my life clash?
  • If God has plans for, then I can be sure that the enemy also has plans for me!!!

God is a God of order, purpose, plan and strategy.  He has specific plans that He is working out in your life for you.  If you take some time to consider the order that exists within you, you will see the balance between the tensions, of desires and plans as well purpose and destiny.

  1. God is your Creator. – The bible says that greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.  And we are told to remember now your Creator in the days of your youth.   Learn to submit to the plans of God for your life and then you will have the desires of your heart met.
  2. His Creation. – Gen. 1:26  You are his creation – God did not make a mistake.  He made you unique to His plan.  As you humble yourself under His mighty Hand, he will raise you up – high up – for all to see His Glory on you. 
  3. Our DNA – spiritual & physical – Psalm 139   You are His special DNA – a direct making after His own heart.  In body – soul – spirit.  If you have given your heart to Christ – then your spirit is now alive to Him and you are being transformed into His image and likeness.
  4. Our purpose on earth. – Eph. 2:10  We are called out of darkness into His marvellous light. To show the Glory of God to the powers and principalities of the air.  As we seek His Kingdom first, then our purposes and plans come into order.
  5. Our destiny. – Eph.2:19 you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with saints and members of the household of God.  The pilgrims progress is hear on earth as much as it is in Heaven.  The prize is at the end of the race.   Lets put aside temporary things and run toward the goal in Christ Jesus.
  6. Our inheritance. – Psalm 2:8  During the course of race for our destiny, we can inherit our full inheritance here on earth.  The nations – the country – the community – your family – for Christ. 

God will raise you up to inherit all the ground – your vocation, family, your social status, your finances and every other area.  You can inherit the fruit of these things now.

The fruit of what you will produce in the future is already in you waiting to come out.

Some simple ways to reach into tomorrow and bring it into today.

  1. Spend time with God - Worship God for who He is and not for what you can get from Him.
  2. Come to God with clean hands a pure heart. – Holy in lifestyle and pure with your motives.
  3. Wait on God to see what He will show you and say to you. 
  4. Present your requests to Him.  -  Write out your desires – not what you think His will for you is, but what the desires of your heart are.
  5. Give them to God (sacrifice them, let them die) and ask God to give you His plan for your life. – Seek His Face and not His Hand.
  6. Then you will see that God will give you the desires of your heart and they will be the plans of God for your life.

As you truly worship Him for who He is and not what you can get from Him, He will open the floodgates of heaven on you, and He will pour down blessings in your life and fulfil the desires of your heart. In total abandonment to Him through worship, you will find that your desires are of little significance and that His desires are to be pre-eminent and of priority.

The desires of God are to give to us the nations of the earth and for us to be come more like His Son, Jesus Christ.  The reason Jesus came to earth was not to bless me and give me the carnal desires of my heart, but it was to bless me and to turn me from my wicked ways. (Acts;, John 10;10 I came that they might Have life and have it more abundantly.) The word abundance means “a lot” – a lot of life, a lot of fulfilment, a lot of purpose. In discovering your purpose and destiny of life, you need to first loose yourself in Him.  With this mentality it is possible to come into line with the purpose and destiny of God for our lives.

The path of successfully living your purpose and destiny is first to change some of the paradigms of the mind. 

This is done by allowing the new thought process to become habitual and then watching and enjoying the fruit of living a fulfilled life with purpose and destiny.

The bible tells us in Prov. 23:7 “for as a man thinks so is he..” 

The secret is to positively change your thought process and see yourself through the eyes of your creator.

The thoughts that go through your mind have the ability to ruin you or to make you. 

For years I believed that I could not come to much.  Besides just believing that I could not, I also continually spoke the I can’t over my life.  Until I discovered a verse in the bible that reads

Prov. 18:21 “ The power of life and death are on the tongue, and those who love it, will eat it.”

“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”
