Mozambique report back 7th to 9th October 2005

On Friday the 7th of October Mark Visser, Rex Hunt and Craig Mawer left Durban for ministry in Mozambique.

We took the advice of some and saved about 2 hours of our journey by trying the new Siteki border post. Driving through Maputo on Friday afternoon made us thankful for our lives here in South Africa. We really do live in a beautiful country. We began to see what we have through new eyes and gave God the praise for His blessing on our lives.

Ministry on Friday evening was to a few of the faithful’s of the church in Maputo. This group of believes call themselves River of Life. They really do bring the River of Life to a dry and a thirsty land. The Word of God came and set some free, and for others it brought confirmations and future insight into the plan of God for their life.

Saturday we had breakfast at the pastor’s house (Pastor Jac) where the church meetings usually take place.  Due to the fact that land/building hasn’t YET become available to them. Breakfast was great and so was the sight seeing trip around Maputo with a coconut drink to end it off nicely on our way back to have lunch.

Lunch was good with Rex’s skill at making salad.  Jac’s wife, Hessie is a sure good cook.  We ate well and there was extra to spare for everyone.

After lunch was a siesta time (Mexican word for relax with your feet up), we all fell asleep.  Within an hour Mark and Rex went down to the beach to test a piece of fish from one of the locals.  Small fish caught out of dragnets from tiny boats are one of the staple nutrition’s that the local eat.

Later that evening we had another prophetic teaching meeting that Rex took. This brought a fresh dynamic as people sat on the edge of their chairs waiting in expectation for the Word of God.  Craig ministered a prophetic word to the church as well as to some people.

Sunday we had breakfast, bacon and eggs with a local family that are members of River of Life. The Sunday service came with repentance before a Holy God as all whom where present had to search their hearts. A hasty lunch followed before the eight hour journey back through Swaziland and then into South Africa.

Praise God for a safe journey and wonderful hosts.
